Draw String Bag

042

So my daughter was going through this faze of grabbing napkins from the kitchen, tearing them up and wrapping stuff up with them.  She has plenty of toys, I promise.  So I decided to make her a little bag to wrap and rewrap whatever her little self desired.  This was really simple and only took minutes.  She was a happy camper. I thought I’d share some photos with you.

Megan Auman

189

Megan Auman is an amazing contributor to my inspiration bank.  I have followed Megan’s Crafting an MBA and her work for some time now.  Somewhat recently, I visited the Phoenix Art Museum.  I was so excited to find Megan Auman’s jewelry in the gift shop.  I recognized it from across the room.  As if going to the museum isn’t inspiring enough.

My visit left me feeling so inspired, I decided that I was going to make a new personal goal.

“I will one day have my work displayed in an art museum.”

If you ever find yourself feeling stumped, uninspired, or just downright uncreative… visit your local art museum.  You never know, you might find someone’s work that you know and recognize.

There are so many ways to nurture your creativity.  Surrounding yourself with creative mediums of all sorts, is a sure way to inspire productivity.

Kitchen Chalkboard

189
You’ve got to love chalkboard paint.
This didn’t take long at all.  I kind of wanted to paint the gold.  Husband talked me out of it.  I’m glad he did, it blends well.  What a great way to repurpose an old frame too.

Fireflies

182

Imagine yourself out in the open on a moon lit, warm summer night.  Free as a child to roam around.  You stand in awe as you begin to see the flickers of light come toward you.  They are just so beautiful, you are captured by the off beat gleams of light.  For the first time ever I'm experiencing the magic of fireflies.

My somewhat recent experience at the Phoenix Art Museum brought me back to my first firefly experience as a child, only a bit more colorful.

Being from California, I had never experienced such wonder.  Not until I was 7 anyway, when I went back east to visit my grandparents.

I love it when you get that nostalgic déjà vu feeling that brings you back to a great childhood memory.  This exhibit was amazing!

Skateboard Cake

006

My husband and I made this for our sons birthday party.  It was a combined birthday party with the neighbor.  They were born on the same day 10 hours apart.  No wonder they are so much alike.  They are both really into skating and were stoked to have a cake to represent it.  My writing was a bit goofy but I’ve seen much worse.  I used a new recipe for the cake itself.  It was out of this world!  We used Satin Ice Vanilla Buttercream fondant…great stuff!  We have recently found a great source for all our cake and baking supplies.  What do you think?

Banana’s for Banana Bread

076
Although I’m not the biggest fan of plain ol’ bananas, I love banana flavored foods.  I had a ton of bananas that were in need of baking.  Solution… yummy banana bread.  I am still adjusting my new schedule.  To be quite honest I feel that I could make better use of my time but baking banana bread was a productive task.  Right?
It’s time to buckle down on myself and create a fool proof schedule to keep me on task and productive.  Easier said than done.  Any ideas out there?  I have been reading up on lots of different ideas and have tried many different things.  Nothing proven yet.  I will keep you all posted.

Crazy Busy

Things have been crazy busy around here lately.  Getting four kids ready and off to school is not an easy task.  Especially when the school has been making it a bit complicated.  Things will smooth out soon though.  When it does, I will be back at the many many projects on my to do list and of course will be sharing them with you.
